When you think of a leather headboard, what is it that you envision in your mind? Perhaps it's the stately black leather headboards that you have seen in the trendy furniture shops around town. Or maybe you are envisioning a country-style brown headboard. These colors would not work for those going for a softer look in their bedroom; wanting a softer look does not mean that you cannot have a leather headboard. You may want to consider a white leather headboard.
Leather headboards come in a variety of colors, from blacks and browns to purples to creams, ivories and light caramels. What makes a white leather headboard preferable as a color choice is its versatility. A white leather headboard can be added to almost any room to enhance the appearance and style without sacrificing good taste.
Do you have a bedroom that includes a lot of yellow or green tones? No problem, a white headboard in shades of white, neutral, and pearl can be extremely complimentary and pull the entire room together. It will neutralize the effect of those colors nicely without destroying your color scheme.
DESIGNER’S TIP: Though you may choose a white leather headboard, you will still want to look for a duvet, sham, and pillow cases as well as sheets that match or highlight of colors in the room. For instance, if you have blue vases and blue flowers and blue pictures on the wall, you will want to choose bed accessories of that color. You will not, however, then want to choose a blue headboard (this is far too overwhelming).
If you have a dark-colored room, a leather headboard with cream shades, antique ivories, or beiges will be like a beacon of light in the dark. Steer clear of choosing a dark colored leather bed, as it will only make the room feel more oppressive. The natural shades of white and caramels will break up the dark shades without sacrificing the style and motif of the room.
DESIGNER’S TIP: Be sure to not be too "matchy"! All because you have a leather headboard does not mean that you should choose leather accessories. As a matter of fact, the opposite is true: be sure to stay away from leather accessories and stick with other materials such as satin, silk, or even fine cotton.
Now comes the best part: choosing the style of headboard to match your bedroom. You may be surprised just how many different styles there are out there to compliment each person's individual style. Have a chic modern looking home? Go for a stark, plain white leather headboard. Have a regal, Victorian-style room? You can find many shades of off-white that will compliment this nicely. If you have a country-style bedroom, any number of light beiges and caramels will certainly fit the bill.
Check out different motifs and shapes for the headboard, as well. You can find some with different patterns, some that are rounded, some that are oblong-shaped, and others that are more rectangular. No matter what your taste, a white leather headboard can be that one missing piece to any bedroom.
