4ft Headboards

If you are one of the fortunate few to have a large, spacious bedroom, chances are you have already gone out and purchased an equally large double, queen, or king sized bed to help fill the space. There is no doubt that the bed is meant to be the focal point of the bedroom. You may have already considered some bed accessories that will certainly draw the eye, but there is truly no better way to bring attention to your area of refuge than a stately 4 foot headboard.

Think you may not have the space for a 4ft headboard? Here's how you can take some measurements to help you decide. Take a look around your bedroom, and choose the wall you would like your headboard to be up against. Take out your measuring tape, and measure 4ft up and make a small mark with the pencil. Now step away and see how tall that is. If this point is more than half way up that wall, then you may not have the space for a 4ft headboard. If you have a ceiling that is sloped or slanted, consider placing the headboard under the highest part of the ceiling to maximize the depth of the room. If you have any other tall furniture in the room, such as dressers or shelving units, be sure to space the tall furniture out around the room and not crowd it all together. This will keep your room from looking crowded and cluttered.

Perhaps one of the most enjoyable parts of any decorating venture is deciding the color and color schemes. A general rule is, the larger the furniture, the more conservative the color and shades should be. Consider deeper wood shades, like mahogany, and rich warm tones if you are considering purchasing a 4ft headboard. Depending on your color scheme, you may be able to pull of white tones, beige tones or ivory.

WARNING: In most situations, one should stay away from any bright colors, such as purples, oranges, or lime greens. These can easily overpower a room.

As for designs, do not assume that your 4ft headboard must be made of a heavy wood, like oak or birch. You can also easily find beautiful 4ft headboards that are made of brass, iron, or even a lighter wood. Antique brass is particularly beautiful for those who want to make their room appear rather dainty and also spacious; the designs of most brass headboards allow the wall to be seen, thus making the room appear more spacious. Thanks to the great variety of materials used to build a 4ft headboards, it is fairly easy to match a headboard to your style.

Finally, once you have decided which headboard you are going to add to your home, consider enhancing your style with complimentary bed accessories. When looking for accessories to go with a large headboard, seek out "bigger than usual" items such as overstuffed pillows and fluffy throws to truly enhance the look.
