Antique Brass Headboards

Your bedroom is your haven; your escape from the daily ups and downs, the pressures, and the stress. That is why it is important that your bedroom provides a feeling of comfort, style, and relaxation. You are pretty sure that you want to redecorate the room to match your style, but you are not quite sure where to start. A good place to start is with a bed headboard.

There are a number of headboard styles available: fabric, leather, suede, wooden. Perhaps one of the most versatile and tasteful for any room, however, is an antique brass headboard. You can find these either in antique shops, or you can find replicas in retail stores – replicas are made so well that no one seeing your room would even know that it is not a real antique! If you already have most of the furnishings in your room and are having problems bringing it all together, an antique brass headboard can enhance your entire room and give it a cohesive appearance.

Another great thing about antique brass headboards is the number of different styles that are available for you to choose from. There is the classic and ever popular Victoria style, which brings about a dainty and sophisticated look. These headboards are a particularly good choice if the wrought iron or metal headboards would appear too overbearing in a room. Brass headboards are lighter and more "fresh" for those with a lighter-colored scheme in their bedroom with more delicate fixtures.

If you are going for a minimalist or simple look for your bedroom, again the brass headboard can give your bedroom just a touch of style while keeping everything easy and simple.

As mentioned above, antique brass headboards will save any bedroom that has a color scheme that may otherwise seem scattered and "all over the place". Metal headboards often have a brighter gold color painted on them. This bright gold finish often clashes with colors such as saturated reds and greens, dark oranges, and warmer blue tones. An antique brass headboard, however, will compliment these colors nicely.

If your room has undertones of the following colors, however, it will not coordinate well with brass:

Gold
Some beige tones
Silver
Radiant Yellow
Bright Orange
Pastel pink
Light brown

Antique brass headboards may also be the answer to an overcrowded room. Leather, wooden, and wrought iron headboards can easily make a room appear overcrowded and give a stifling feeling. If you do not have the option of moving around the furniture in your bedroom, or if you already live in a fairly tiny space, brass headboards are great since they take up far less room than many of the other types of headboards. The designs in the brass also often show a lot of wall space; this open design can make a small room appear larger than it is.

Ornate and classic, if you are checking out the headboard market, consider choosing an antique brass headboard to flatter your bedroom.
